Humboldt County usually has pretty good road conditions as most of California enjoys. In the winter months (November - March) that can be mudslides and snowy weather that hold up the major highways. Some of the county roads and especially dirt roads can be a bit tougher to manage in wet weather. There are mountain passes off highway 299 that often requires snow-tires.
