Ferndale Unified School District

Route 211 South - Mattole Road

Ferndale, also known as the Victorian Village of Ferndale is just that : full of Victorian style houses. It has a quaint main street area where shopping, restaurants and lodging are all closeby. You will also find Bed and Breakfasts here. It is located about 10 miles west of highway 101 on Route 211 that leads into the Lost Coast.

Ferndale Fairgrounds ( VIEW FULL PAGE )

The Ferndale Fairgrounds are the annual home to the Humboldt County Fair. This fair is well over 100 years running and is a major draw for the county. It is held over 10 days in August each year. The fair is especially known for the limited-time horse gambling that occurs at it. Other smaller events are also held during the rest of the year at the fairgrounds.

Much of this route was originally intended to be a part of State Route 1 from Rockport in Mendocino County to Ferndale in Central Humboldt County. The traversable route in northern Mendocino and southern Humboldt counties is Chemise Mountain Road, Wilder Ridge Road, Kings Peak Road and Mattole Road. Entrances to this southern route are from Ferndale in the North, Bluff Creek Flats Road off Hwy 101 at the Humboldt Redwoods State Park or from Briceland Thorne Road out of Redway.
