Big Lagoon Union Elementary School District

Trinidad is a small quaint resort town in the north of Humboldt County. It is a very popular tourists destination and has many vacationers essentials. Popular attractions are the nearby parks, fine dining, the Trinidad Pier, ocean fishing, the Cher Ae Heights Casino and souvenir shopping.

Downtown Trinidad is the first thing you run into once you get off Highway 101. The entire town of Trinidad is not very large. There is a grocery store, a gas station and some small restaurants. Much of the Trinidad action will be found on the Scenic drives to the south and north.

Patrick's Point Drive is a scenic alternative to Highway 101 from Trinidad to Patrick's Point State Park. It is dotted with hotels, resorts, restaurants, campgrounds and more. Some parts of the drive a little rough but the scenery is well worth it. You will find many tourists on this route throughout the summer months.

Surfing ( VIEW FULL PAGE )

There are surfing locations in several parts of Humboldt County. The Humboldt Bay, Trinidad and parts of the Lost Coast are the usual spots. Locals guard there favorite spots like Buddhist Monks. Conditions in the cold water can be either really good or really bad. The coast is pretty rocky with cliffs past McKinleyville. There are a lot of HSU students who surf the waters similar to Santa Cruz. Winter and spring are best but the waves can be pretty rough. Surfline has a great summary.

Trinidad Pier ( VIEW FULL PAGE )

The town of Trinidad sits mostly on cliffs but it also slowly meanders down to the Trinidad Pier by the Pacific Ocean. There are small overlooks, an HSU musuem, a couple of restaurants and the actual pier for entertainment. Many of the ocean sightseeing and fishing leaves from this pier as well as commercial fishing operations. The Trinidad State Beach is also down near the Pier.
