The Arcata Plaza in Arcata and Oldtown in Eureka along with the Ferndale and Garberville strips are the primary shopping districts. There are also other shopping areas in North Arcata and Eureka as well as in Trinidad, McKinleyville, Fortuna and Redway

K Street turns into Alliance just after the old train tracks and M Street. From there on it becomes more of a neighborhood district centered around the Westwood Market. There are lots of apartment complexes and houses for family and college students - especially with the ease of access via Sunset Ave.

It can only be reached by one major road (although the interesting secret stretch of CA Route 1 exists) or by boat or airplane.
